ProNamics courses are designed to give the attendee the necessary knowledge to understand the impact of process variability as well as the skills to identify and either direct or implement a solution. The courses strengthen the attendees understanding of pulp and paper process dynamics and process control principles.
The courses are a combination of lectures and computer based labs. The computer labs make-up 30-40% of the course. The attendees apply the concepts presented using a realistic simulation of a stock preparation area.
ProNamics courses are mobile and intended to be presented at a location close to a high density of mills. This ensures a high potential for attendance and minimizes attendee expenses. Please call or email for future course locations and pricing information.
The PCO course is a results oriented course designed to improve the attendees abilities to identify and correct control loop problems. The course is intended for Instrument Mechanics and is a good introductory course for process control and instrumentation engineers.
The PCT course is a practical results oriented course designed to improve the abilities of process engineers and operations management personnel to troubleshoot process variability problems. The course explores the implications of process equipment design and process variability and therefore would be beneficial for maintenance and design engineers.
The pipeline process control optimizatoin techniques course is intended to strengthen the student's ability to optimize petroleum pipeline process control performance. The course is primarily intended for process and control engineers, instrument and electrical technicians and operations management personnel who want to improve their ability to optimize/troubleshoot pipeline process controls. The course explores the implications of process equipment design on control performance and would be beneficial for maintenance and design engineers.
The Field Training Course upgrades the student's ability to apply the process control concepts presented in the PCO/PCT courses. The Field Training Course is conducted in the form of small scale process control optimization surveys. Survey objectives and techniques are presented at the beginning of the course. The software used during the survey, including data collection, controller tuning and time series analysis is reviewed.
The course is a practical results oriented course designed to improve the abilities of process engineers, control engineers or instrumentation engineers who have responsibility over the optimization of the paper machine dryer section. The course explores the implications of process equipment design and process variability and therefore would be beneficial for maintenance and design engineers.
For important control loops, if the process objectives cannot be achieved with a simple PID controller, a more sophisticated strategy needs to be considered. Cascade, ratio, feed-forward and decoupling strategies can often deliver the required performance improvement. The focus of this 4 day advanced process control course is on recognizing opportunities for advanced strategies and successful implementation.
The OPCT course is a practical, results oriented course designed to give the attendees the basic skills and tools to identify and troubleshoot process variability and process control problems.
